Meet the team

Simon joined in 2018 as interim CFO and became Managing Director in 2019. A chartered management accountant, he brings experience from FMCG, retail, wholesale, and IT sectors. His role centres on commercial, operational, and strategic matters. With a successful track record as CEO, COO, and CFO, Simon excels in driving business growth.

Ed, with the Group since 2019, leads a team delivering TAG strategy, building consumer-business trust in the energy and communications sectors. He’s held strategy, regulatory, and operational roles in water, communications, and energy, working for major UK regulated businesses like Thames Water and BT. Living in Manchester with his family, Ed enjoys live music and solving cryptic crosswords.

Helen joined us in 2019 and is responsible for the Group’s Purpose & Culture agenda, covering strategic leadership, communication, culture, values, and behaviours. Previously, she’s held senior leader roles within the operations of various suppliers within the energy and communications sectors. Outside of work Helen enjoys travelling, walks in the lake district and a good pub - when a young family allows it!

John joined in 2013 and the focus of his team is on Group strategy development as well as leading on mergers and acquisitions. His background is in project and programme management in the energy and public sectors. Originally from Blackpool, John now lives in Liverpool and in his spare time enjoys playing golf and watching football.

Gareth, who joined in 2021, leads a team providing communications and public affairs support to the Group. He’s held senior leadership roles in energy, retail, finance, and business. Outside work, Gareth lives with his partner in a North Wales cottage, serving as a community councillor and enjoying gardening.

Sue relocated from Kent to the North-West and joined us in 2022. She leads the team responsible for everything people related which includes colleague services, colleague experience, our training academy and facilities. Previously, she’s held senior roles in both people and operations functions within retail, construction and manufacturing. When she’s not working, you’ll probably find her chasing the sun in her favourite travel spots.
